Transform your passion into a career by becoming a Molchanovs Wave 2 Instructor. With the W2I certification, you'll gain the knowledge, confidence, and hands-on teaching experience to lead Wave 1 and Wave 2 freediving students safely and effectively.
To join the Molchanovs Wave 2 Instructor (W2I) course, you need to:
Hold a Molchanovs Wave 3 / Level 3 certification (or equivalent via crossover)
Be 18 years or older
Hold a valid First Aid with CPR certification (within the last 2 years)
Performance Requirements (Molchanovs Standard)
During the course, you’ll need to demonstrate the official Molchanovs W2I standards, including:
Static Apnea (STA): 4 minutes
Dynamic Apnea (DYN): 100 m
Dynamic No Fins (DNF): 60 m
Constant Weight (CWT): 40 m
Free Immersion (FIM): 40 m
Constant Weight No Fins (CNF): 30m
Rescue: From 25 m + 50 m tow
CO2 rescue: 15m stand-by (1min) rescue
CO2 dive: Perform a 20m CWTB dive after finning on the surface for one minute with the arms above the head
These standards ensure you have the technical ability and safety awareness required to guide Wave 1 and Wave 2 students confidently.

Yes. If you hold an equivalent certification from another recognized freediving agency, you'll first need to complete a Molchanovs Wave 3 crossover evaluation to ensure you meet the required standards before starting the Wave 2 Instructor Course. If you're already an instructor with another agency, we also offer Molchanovs instructor crossover programs on request. Contact us to discuss your experience, and we'll recommend the most suitable pathway.

No problem! Many candidates train with us before the course to reach the standards. We can arrange extra training sessions in the weeks before your W2I so you feel fully prepared. If you are close to the requirements, our instructors will help you fine-tune your skills during the course.

No prior teaching experience is required. The W2I course will train you in classroom delivery, pool instruction, and open water teaching.
